Calamansi Cove Villas Welcomes the British Guild of Travel Writers

Writers covering gardens on the trip were delighted by Calamansi Cove Villas, with a Sea Garden designed by Dooland de Silva, and afterwards met him in person at the beautiful Brief Garden, a property designed by Bevis Bawa in 1929. The final destination was Cinnamon Bentota Beach, created by Geoffrey Bawa, the island’s most renowned architect. The trip concluding with a dinner at Cinnamon Life Hotel, Colombo.

We are proud to share that Calamansi Cove Villas was recently featured as part of the British Guild of Travel Writers’ (BGTW) historic visit to Sri Lanka — the largest group of international travel journalists, bloggers, and photographers ever to tour the island!

This incredible group journeyed across Sri Lanka to experience the country “on paths less travelled”, including eco-adventures, cultural experiences, and hidden gems — one of which was our very own Sea Garden at Calamansi Cove, designed by the renowned Dooland de Silva.

Following their visit to our seaside sanctuary, the group also met the celebrated designer at the lush and inspiring Brief Garden, originally created by Bevis Bawa in 1929.

Calamansi Cove was highlighted for its serene beauty, eco-conscious setting, and its connection to Sri Lanka’s rich garden and design heritage. We are honored to have been part of a journey that showcased the very best of the island — not just its beaches, but its art, culture, and sustainability.
